The DiaPlexQ™Dengue Fever Detection Kit is designed to detect 4 serotypes of the Dengue virus using the Multiplex PCR technology which can detect multiple specific target genes in a single PCR.
Dengue fever and Dengue hemorrhagic fever are caused by a RNA flavi virus that is spread by the bites of mosquitoes, most commonly Aedes aegypti, which is found in tropic and subtropic region. As many as 100 million people are infected yearly. There are four known serotypes of the flavivirus that cause dengue fever, DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3 and DEN-4. Infection of one dengue fever provides lifelong immunity from that serotype, but not from the other serotypes. As there are not yet any vaccine to prevent to infection with Dengue fever virus. It is essential to identify the strain of the infecting virus, immune status of the patient as early as possible.
